Dry skin, psoreasis

Post by TinaA » Thu, 29 Oct 2009 4:58 am

Dear All

I am new in Singapore, a european.

Psoreasis is a skin problem like eksema.

I am asking any of you if you know of a "medicine man", a health practisioner, a chinese acupunkture or any other recomended doctor for this purpose??

In my home contry I have tried the homone creme, so I´m not looking for just a doctor to give me a creme.

If you have any recomendations or just have heard of something, please let me know.

Thanks in advance

Tina

When it comes to skin conditions like psoriasis, it pays to see a real dermatologist... :-|

Currently using a cream "Daivobet 50/500" to treat my skin for psoriasis.

For when i get real itchy and end up bleeding, i resort to Advantan Fatty Ointment to get over the initial stages.

my psoriasis acts up every time im in one of my bedroom which is always dark n damp.

didnt itch too badly compared to seafood allergy but the scary thing was the weird color and scaly look.

the ONLY thing that worked for me was lots of sun.
there was once where it acted up in sg.. and when i got to dubai, hit the jumeira sands.. within 2 days.. cleared up.

in sg also the same.. everytime i see it about to act up... pray to the sun. lol.
really works great. put on sunblock for the face though. and btw.. dont need to put any other cream/gel after u sun.

its a immune system disorder. dont need to waste money on expensive creams etc which only treats the symptoms but not the root.

i asked a dermatologist once if theres a need for me to buy any cream etc to keep at home in case it acts up again. he said there are thousands skin conditions in the world. if u sun and it works for u, do it the same, dont need any other medication as backup until the original no longer works.

As soon as I moved here last year I had excema break out pretty much anywhere there was sweat that built up - I'm from a colder climate, so I needed to adjust.

Anyways, I have used the steroid creams before, but I didn't like what they would do to my skin. Turns out, excema is overly dry skin. So the more I wiped the sweat, the worse my condition became.

All I use now is a really good moisturizer (nothing special, I bought mine at a drug store) with no fragrance, just very moisturizing. I do the same for my face and body and haven't had much other than a few flare ups since the new year. And, when I do flare up, it's usually because I haven't been applying moisturizer regularly. Hope that's helpful!

Wow this thread has sincerely become a breeding ground for ads and spam right? Sensei, you are the second person to recommend Daivobet this week, thanks :)
