I need to hire a taxi or car from Singapore to Mersing

Post by DBGP » Tue, 27 Oct 2009 4:06 pm

Does anyone have any tips or numbers?

I am booked to stay on one of the islands off Mersing in a couple of weeks and the resort has asked for a fortune to arrange the transfer from here to the port in Malaysia.

Has anyone done the same or similar trip, and have contact details of a reliable car service who can take me?

Thanks

Taxis can't legally cross the border when traveling between two arbitrary points. However, if you call the taxi stand at Queen St, they can sort out a swap so that a Sg cabbie takes you across and you switch into a Malaysian cab once across the border.

Mersing's pretty far from Singapore though, so that's not going to be cheap. Why not take a bus? See http://wikitravel.org/en/Mersing for options and price estimates.
