Health Insurance for expats

Post by cando » Mon, 19 Oct 2009 1:05 pm

Hi,

We have been living in Singapore now for 3 years and had our daughter here. But because of the "Global Economic Situation" its looks like we're moving from an expat contract to a local. Which means for us, local or international health insurance. Which is fine....... but what happens if we are already pregnant. ??? Its seems most insurance co. that l've been looking at have a 10 month waiting period for maternity !!! Work will no longer cover us and we have already been told to go "find a local Insurance co". Does any one know of a company local or international that does not have a waiting period for maternity ??? Otherwise well........ maybe we should just go home ????? :(

You say you might be moving from expat to local hire which implies that still hasn't been finalised yet. If you think you might be pregnant now or within the next few months then just stick with your existing insurance policy. If the company currently pay they can give you the details and you continue to pay yourselves.
