Things that I like from this school are :
-location---among private houses, small road, safe and quiet
-there is 1 on 1 time for the teacher to really see the progress of each child
-small ratio. in my son's class : 2 permanent teachers for 13 kids. they have some attachment teachers too.
-the teachers are very approachable.
-no physical punishment, even a small snap on the palm.

This school is focusing more on academically learning. Means if you are looking for school with more music, art, dancing time, this school is not for your child.
Pupils in N2 are able to read/spell/write 4-5 letter words with blend.
Having said that, pupils have free time to work on the materials on their own.

You may want to visit the school personally, then you will feel it if it is the right school for your child or not.
(Let me know if you need any contact person or I can ask the school about the open house for this year.)

I have visited other montessori, it is pretty good, except the fact that they have outdoor activities in the balcony in 2nd floor. We would have not known it if we did not visit the school!

btw, how old is your child? if she/he is already 4 years old (N2 age), your child still has to join N1 first to learn the basic montessori materials. But rest assured, your child will still graduate together with his/her peers accordingly.

Have you visited Shaw's House and Pat's School? They are nearby too.
It all depends on what your priorities are...

I think there's a school called East Coast Montessori in that vicinity. .I've not been there personally but have friends who's children graduated from there. They are 1 of the pioneering montessori schools in singapore.

MMI siglap

Post by ya2012 » Thu, 28 Feb 2013 6:47 am

Hi
Siglap MMI is not recommended!
The biggest drawback and really a deal breaker is that it takes out all the fun out of school for a pre schooler. It is a franchise and run like one. I have seen uniform ally that children loose the interest in school or get immune here because it is not being run as a preschool but as a coaching class to get into and cope with local school system.
Let kids be kids. There is no playground as well and above all the attitude is like an office, BAU kind of thing. Not much attention or scope of harnessing the child's capabilities, likes or dislikes.
Lot of Indian kids especially because they teach Hindi during school hours but would want the child to like school vs. Hating/immune to school first.
