I`m sure this isnt relevant to the topic, but I find the taxi drivers here are a bunch of lunatics. They`re on a death wish or something. I dont know. We had to buy a car because of this - now its my lunatic driving my wife has to deal with :)

LOL yes they all drive very badly. when i can't stand it anymore, i'll pretend to be v sick and tell the driver to slow down and be easy on his pedals if not i'll vomit in his car immediately.

I've taken a good look around at the products others recommend for use in Singaporean taxis, and it looks like the harness-based ones are the best (of the worst) for a 2.5 year-old? (Is this right?) I've still not worked out a good solution for a 6 month-old -- it appears to be either a capsule pram or (worst case) in a sling or harness on Mum. :(

I was wondering if anyone knew of Singapore suppliers of the harnesses, e.g. Joey Safe, Tote 'n Go, Ride Safer?

Recommendations for what to do when travelling in a taxi with a 6 month-old also appreciated!

For a 6 months old baby I've always used the Maxi Cosi infant car seat in taxis. Not easy to carry around, but if you have a buggy you can fit it onto (like e.g. the Bugaboo), then it's doable. Taxi drivers don't mind you using it as long as you put a little muslin cloth or similar underneath it to protect the backseat of the car. For an older child it's a nightmare. For my little wiggler there was no other option but to just sit him on my lap. Now he's 3 and is ok sitting in the middle of the taxi using that lap seat belt. Not ideal, but at least it's a seat belt! I've always tried to use the MRT as much as possible and avoid taxis. It's much safer.
