Moving to Singapore, can someone recommend an area?

Post by snaw » Wed, 07 Oct 2009 6:15 pm

Hi,

Moving to Singapore in December, from the UK with my Aussie wife and two young kids (3 & 1).

Looking for an area to live in, I like places that are villagey if possible, don't have to be super trendy, full of expat's or 5 mins from work. Very flexible in that regard - love to have some space, and not spend too much

For example in London we lived in Putney and loved it, or in Sydney we lived in Manly, and loved it.

Anyone recommend an area they think I may like, based on those criteria?

Anywhere on the island except for districts 9, 10 & 11 would do you fine then.

Putney and Manly? Bukit Timah near Holland V. You will like it, trust me.

Working in raffles place.

Guess a park or water nearby would be ideal, also really want a bit of space, don't more of a commute if it gives us more at home (Been doign a 1 hr 15 min commute every day for a few years in London - anything is an improvment on that).

Cheers for tips so far, I'll check them out.
