IVF recommendations

Post by alekswilliam » Tue, 06 Oct 2009 9:45 pm

Dear,

My wife and I want to share with you our happiness. We are expecting twin for next april(2010).It has been a long and painfull road to where we are today.

We did 3 artificial inseminations, then, 1 IVF with 2 embryos which did not succed, followed by a second attempt with the remaining embryo. It didn't work.

We found by chance while surfing on internet the address of a great doctor with his team.It is like day and night,or white and black, compared to our previous experience.
We would like to recommand to any couples out there, who do not know where to go,this place:

HOSPITAL: NATIONAL UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL (NUH)
WOMEN'S CLINIC(KENT RIDGE WING 2)

PROFESSOR P.C. WONG and HIS TEAM

PHONE NUMBER: +65 6772 2277

By MRT: step out at Buona Vista--cross the road via the overpass---take bus numbers 92-95-200

After the birth of our twin, we will share our experience with other couples having the same issues, when invited to Prof. P.C. Wong's lecture.

This is our experience. We believe that there are many other places as great as the NUH,but we just wanted to share a name,a place, where a miracle happened.

Best of luck for all of you attempting IVF.
Believe in it.Share it with your family.

Not at all

Being expat,we have no help from Singapore government. We have to pay all cash.

The first time we thought that going private would be better and increase our chances of success.Wrong.At least for us.We spent (privat clinic) around 25K.

With NUH and Prof. P.C. Wong,it is like that: He want success for the least money. We spent till the 13 weeks around 10K.And we have twin to come.

Having babies has no price.I hope the best for everybody.

W&A

PS:for the side effects, for the woman,well..they are the ones from a pregnant woman...Don't forget that once the embryo has been transfered, mother nature does the rest.Women have to get twice a week injection of hormones. If the nurse knows how to do it,then it is almost not painfull.Towards the end of the 12 first weeks, women get used to it and do not feel them as much as at the beginning. This is acc. my wife.
For men...well be ready for an irritating wife during the first weeks...but when you see her body changing for good, then nothing else matters.

message to Susu

Dear sorry but i cannot answer to you directly,as the site tells me that i do not have enough messages posted....or something like that.
To answer yours questions:
- we did not meet doc. LC Foong.
- our first attempts were with a private practice.I prefer not to mention the name as they anyway had successful IVF or IUI.But not with us.
-NUH and doc. PC Wong do organise lecture where everything is explained and even successful couples come to testify and share their experience.Better if you call them to inquiry.
-we always felt well informed, supported with NUH and doc.PC Wong team. They are approachable and friendly.
-we became parents at the first attempt with them.
The most important is not if it will work but if your husband will attend the labor...be mind set it has to work and it will...do everything you think might increase your chances of success...diet-rest..etc...
All the best.

ALeksWilliam

PC Wong was poached from Mount Elizabeth together with Dr. Mary Rauff and Dr Kek Lee Pin. He was the Head of Obs and Gynae there. His team was poached by NUS and part of the deal was to teach newbies gynaes and obs and the became Assoc Professor . Money was never in the equation for them although NUH has to bend backwards to get them over from Mount E.
They are expert in their own field. Their credential covers the whole walls in the clinic . A true testament of their capabilities.
They are the best in their field. But havign said that , he once did said to me , "What I did or offer covers only 10%, the rest is up to the guy upstairs!!"
A very humble man. I knew him in person well and to this day I am always grateful for what he did for the community.
