pregnancy insurance

Post by marcnaquin » Mon, 05 Oct 2009 6:01 pm

Hi I'm new to the site and I am living in Batam. My wife is pregnant with triplets and we were wondering if you guys knew if pregnancy insurance is offered?? We will be delivering in Singapore of course, so if you have any ideas of the cost of a triplet birth we would certianly be thankfull for the info.

Thanks again :)

It's too late now to apply for ordinary medical insurance, it will not cover a pregnancy already in progress, but you can get extra coverage for complications etc from any health insurer. Have you checked what your existing insurance says? What kind of cover do you need?

We paid around S$7000-8000 for ONE child by Caesarian at one of the cheaper private hospitals (Mt. Alvernia) in a double room.
I guess triplets will be higher, but not trice the price (unless they are premature or have complications, in which case the bill is open-ended).
Ask at the hospitals and prepare yourself for at least double of what they say, as there are lots of hidden charges and fees which they don't tell you beforehand.

Good luck and have lots of fun with the three little ones!

Health insurance for pregnancy?

Post by Rocky140 » Sat, 10 Oct 2009 7:31 pm

Considering that Rock140 is posting from a URL in India that's a favourite with spammers and apparently doesn't know squat, I'd take all he says in all of his posts with a grain of salt. (for that matter, maybe a bucket of salt would be better.
