Comments needed for takeover business in facial & manicu

Post by Submariner » Sat, 03 Oct 2009 5:56 pm

I am looking at buying a business that used to provide facial, manicure & pedicure services somewhere in Tanglin. This shop I was told that it is not a walk-in kinda of customers that you will get as it may require your own list of clienteles to bring in the business. Personally, I have not seen the shop as yet but I am keen to start off a business in this area. I was told that the owner needed some time to start off a family and that she will not continue with this business anymore (I am not convinced though). Anyway, the shop is in an area where a lot of expats would go for services like spa, massage, manicures, etc. I have no experience in running this sort of business however, I intend to hire a specialist to run for me so that I will oversee this business. Here are my questions to those of you ladies who regularly polish and pamper yourself in your free time.. What would you be looking for in a shop to do such services above? Will this business be feasible in the long run?

sounds like it'll be costly to market... : \

why is the original owner selling? is the risk worth it?

i attended a talk late last year, and a self-made businessman said (to the effect):

the goose that lays golden eggs will not be sold... not especially to outsiders.
