Help: fixing mobile phone

Post by pamarro251 » Fri, 02 Oct 2009 12:49 pm

Hi guys,

This is what my phone looks like now:

I want to get it sort of revamped or get a whole new plastic protector if possible.

Does anyone know where in Singapore can I get it done?

Thanks a lot in advance :)

i bought a SE 'housing' off ebay 2 years ago because the shops that had them were asking an arm and a leg for what i needed.

the generic ones (usually from China/HK) don't last as long or fit as well as the originals.

the original ones are usually used (eg, wet phones being sold for parts) and may cost slightly more.

in case you want to buy an entire replacement housing, do note you'd need torque screwdrivers and a plastic prying wedge.

the China/HK deals usually throw those in for free, but check first...

whichever you choose, i'm 100% sure ebay has what you need for a DIY job at a much lower rate than Singapore shops/service center.

Thanks so much taxico. I am checking out ebay right now.

Seems a little bit hopeless to ask but are there any service shops that are friendly around? How much would they cost normally?

most shops i went to wanted SG$75 for just the front panel that i scratched up.

i bought an entire unit from HK for US$14.99 and they threw in the tools i needed to open the bad boy up.

I encountered this term: "AP housing"

Is this similar to the "generic" one you mentioned before?

er... i have no idea. i don't recall that term.

but i think if the price is right, you should just buy it. cell phones are not meant to last forever...

although i still use the above-mentioned phone! (running on 8 years now)
