bring gold into singapore

Hi folks,

We're planning to visit Singapore early next year and will be doing some jewellery shopping.

We've some gold bullion in the form of bars with us which we plan to bring in and exchange while buying the 22ct ornaments.

what are customs restrictions in this regard? the amount of gold we plan to bring in would be less than 300 gms.

that's like 10 troy oz?

so that's about US$10k right there (presuming it's 24kt).

while i know there's no limits to currency, i think you'd have to declare the gold and rig up some paperwork.

maybe you could check out the singapore customs website like most people do.

thanks, but I couldnt find any helpful info on customs website as gold doesnt come up in any of the controlled goods list etc.

does anyone have any experience with carrying gold into Singapore?

Is there any duty involved?

wouldn't the easiest thing be to voluntarily declare it at the arrival area (since you seem to need to bring it in to accomplish your task)?

i think you've not really poked at their website at all...
