Where to live if kids attending UWC East campus in Tampines?

Post by fresian » Mon, 28 Sep 2009 11:28 am

Hi, could anyone help me please? I'm trying to work out where would be a good place to live that's conveniently near the new UWC campus in Tampines, yet not too inconvenient to commute to the city (Raffles Place)? Many thanks in advance!

Well, it depends whether your kids will be picked up by a UWC bus to school. If yes, Changi area near Singapore Expo, Tanah Merah, Simei, Pasir Ris or Tampines would be fine. That's for condos. If you are looking at a house, Changi, Tanah Merah and Pasir Ris are your options.

A guide - from Tanah Merah MRT to Raffles Pl by MRT during morning peak hours, it's only 20 mins.

Yours truly,
From the upper East side of Singapore!

Taking train from Tampines to Raffles Place is less than 30 mins. It's better to stay in Tampines as rental is lower than in town area.

If you are looking for a cluster house then there is Summer Gardens (where we stay) or D'Manor that are at Tanah Merah MRT - really convenient to the city. There are also loads of condo's near here that are reasonably priced from older units to brand new units.

It is a great area - close to get to the East Coast (can go all the way from here to East Coast along canal paths (cycling / running). I often cycle home from work from the city to Tanah Merah and go the majority of the way on off road paths (East Coast Park and canal paths) which is fun.

Also close to shopping malls / hawker centres / wet market etc etc.
