EP Rejected 2 days before expiry, How to extend?

Post by sunnyjain » Thu, 24 Sep 2009 10:47 am

Hi,
My EP- Q1 is going to expire tomorrow. My company applied for renewal 2 weeks ago, but yesterday MOM rejected it.

Reason of Rejection:
A/C to MOM, they sent one letter to my employer requiring some document, but my employer said that no such letter has been received. Just for proof, MOM sent the letter by FAX again.
I got all the documents from my company and submitted them to MOM today.
When i asked them to extend my work permit for few days. They said, you need to come tomorrow and asked the officer who will be taking care of ur case. Then i asked, what if the officer doesn't extend, then they told me - I have to leave Singapore. How can i arrange everything in one day..?

Documents they wanted :

1) Photocopy of my degree
2) letter from my employer describing my duties
3) letter from my employer describing in which project i am working on and for how many months they need me.

I have two Question to ask the expert here:
1) how much are the chances of my EP approval after submitting all the documents?

2) will they be extending my work extension for new few days?

Many thanks in advance.

Sunny

Regarding your first question: the odds should be high that you can renew. I say this based on the fact that we have not heard any stories about problems with EP renewals YET since they started tightening the amount of EPs they give out. Nobody can guarantee you anything though.

Regarding your second question: nope. Never heard of that before. They will either renew it or not. To be honest leaving it to the last two weeks to apply for a renewal was a bit too late.

Hi Sunnyjain

I am wondering what was ur HR doing about ur case renewaling pass in 2 week was really late

How lang have been working in singapore?

For ur 1st question - its all about officer who going handle ur case, hope MOM will renewal ur Pass.( I haven't heard this kind of issue)

For ur 2nd question - If they cancelle ur pass u'll have max of 15 to 17 pf permt to stay in Singapore.

Let know what happened with MOM.

all the best

with regards

1) how much are the chances of my EP approval after submitting all the documents?
I was in a similar scenario where my application for new EP was rejected with 1 week for expiration of my current EP. Well then my new employer again filed for the Ep and got that approved in 7-10 working days.

If it was a fault from your employer then chances are there that MOM might consider it as a negligence from your employer and reject your application again.
2) will they be extending my work extension for new few days?
They would not extending your employment pass but they would give you 30 days of Social visit pass to stay.

Hey Guys,

Good news...!!!

MOM has extended my Work permit for 2 weeks. My HR is total crap, it all happened because of that.

I am staying in Singapore for last 3 years. But i changed my job 2 times in there 3 years so never got a chance of renewal. It was always a new application.

My HR manager went with me to MOM, there after talking with officer, we got to know that
MOM wants to verify my Degree, and if all degree is genuine, there should not be any problem.

I have no problem in this, my degree is genuine, But my problem is that I have a planned holiday from 8-20 October, I have already booked my tickets.
Can someone shed some light on how much time MOM takes to verify the degree ?
My degree is from India, and also I checked my university is not on the list of recognized universities of India mentioned on MOM website.
But the list is so small on the website and i found it did not contain some of best universities of India.

Many thanks for all who took pain to write for me.

How long it takes them to verify your degree more depends on the speed of your university than MOM. I believe they have outsourced that process to a third party as well. Very often universities are on the MOM list but only one course is among the recognised ones. I believe this is the case because they evaluate them on a course by course basis ie if your course is not yet on the list doesn't mean that it is a definite no.

Hmm, My Course is on MOM list, I found while filling the form for EP renewal.
I did engineering in Electronics and communication.

I called and asked them, how much time it will take to process the application?

they said "3 weeks"..
thanks to "monday"...!

Just to ask one silly Question - Do they generally take Three weeks or they just tell enough time so that on one can claim anything.
It is something like back up time.

Thanks

Dear sunny jain
I don't think they need backup time, but actually some times take more then 3 weeks. Calculate the days they haven given 2 weeks of extendation and the renewal will take 3 weeks!

Did ask them how long u can stay if u didn't get renewal under SVP?

When called them regarding process period of ur application did u menation that u have got 2 weeks of extend with current pass?

Yup, thanks to all..!
Singapore is really really fast..
i got my medical report in 3 hours by paying 50 SGD extra..
I scheduled my appointment with EPSC tomorrow at 12:30..

Just a last Question, How many days they generally takes after registration
and fingerprinting to give me the actual EP?

I have 4 more days in Singapore. If I submit tomorrow Noon- Friday, how many days they will take?

Friday [Submission], Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, I m going to India on Thursday Morning.

If my memory didnt fail me, EPSC will need 4-5 working days to process the card. And you will have to collect it within 2 weeks. If you are unable to commit yourself, ask for extension.
