Unresponsive Aircon Contractor

Post by koolaid » Tue, 22 Sep 2009 5:27 pm

I have been trying to ask an aircon contractor (Coolserve) to fix up my window aircon unit and they've looked at it, they gave a quote, which was quite high and I gave the go-ahead.
Now, they have just lost interest because they say that the manufacturer (Panasonic) doesn't have the spare parts in stock and hasn't gotten back to them, which is after about 2 weeks. What could be going on with this contractor and what if the manufacturer doesn't have the spare parts even though the unit is only three years old.

You might have to buy another aircon?

Surely you didn't give them anything up front for a window unit repair.

Or did you? :o

Try another contractor, I suspect you'll magically find the missing parts in stock...

No, Coolserve didn't charge anything just for the check and quote but a company I'd used before that charged $30 just to have a check. I kept calling this previous company, which kept on saying that they would look for the spare part (which is just a drain-pan), but eventually they never called back.
Coolserve has a nice professional-looking website but their service hasn't been professional. They are doing the same thing as the previous company, not calling at all 5 days after they said they would and when I call them, they say they'll return the call and when I call again, they've just called Panasonic and Panasonic hasn't gotten back to them because the Panasonic person is on a lunch break and so they'll call me back after 2pm but then they never call.
It might be Panasonic which has an issue but I think Panasonic would be glad to order in a spare part if it was paid for, it's probably just the aircon contractor which doesn't want to commit in case the customer cancels the order since nothing has been paid yet. In any case, their service is not good enough. I can't be expected to guess what's going on with them. They should state the real situation.
