Hi,
My husband is currently in Singapore and I've asked him to look for a sturdy yet 'cool' school backpack for our daughter. He's been to Lucky Plaza and saw lots of bags but felt that the quality was not good enough that the bag would last more than a year. We've bought cheap bags in the past and they have never made it past one school year. Does anyone know a place where we could get a good selection without having to run all over town?
Here is a link to the sort of bag we are looking for - http://www.pbteen.com/shop/study-shop/b ... =backpacks. This brand is called PBTeen but any other similar bag would be ok.
Thanks for any tips.

I'm not sure why you'd look for something like this in Singapore? If it's a branded back pack it'll be very costly here ~ 30 % higher than in the US for example. if it's not branded, you'll be lucky to get a semester out of it, never mind a whole school year.
Why not just order one from LL Bean, Land's End or depending where you are, ebay? This is just not an export Singapore does well.

I'm not in the US but in Germany. I did look at some US websites and yes, the prices are very attractive but when you look at shipping, it costs a bomb. My husband saw a good Deuter backpack (which my daughter didn't like) and it costs S$59. The same bag in the UK costs 59 pounds! I didn't look but it would be the same here. There is nothing of good quality for under €60 and these are usually the smaller ones. I also saw while surfing, that there are backpack manufacturers in Singapore but they are all wholesale sites. That's why I thought this would be a good place to buy something.

carrefour usually do some good rucksack/bags. they are in plaza singapura and suntec. lucky plaza is not a place to look for rucksack/bags.
but for ultimate cool rucksack, have a look at www.boblbee.de (main website is www.boblbee.com). been using my boblbee for years and it is still going strong.
ok, maybe a boblbee is a bit OTT. have a look for crumpler (www.crumpler.com.sg) which is very popular with the singapore kids. crumpler is in wheelock and raffles.

For good German school bags, you can go to Ergokid in Wheelock Place. They have most of the popular German brands and they even service the typical warranty on these bags.
Alternatively, you can also go to Scool. They're in Marina Square, Jem and Parkway Parade. They also have an online shop.
Star360 Junior in Paragon also sells school bags too.
If you're looking for discounted brand school bags, then Queensway Tower is a good place to visit too. Mustafa is also an alternative although some of the bags quality can appear dubious.
