Unfortunately I have heard that the Singapore government is clamping down hard, on recruiting from outside of Singapore, due to the amount of Singaporean jobs lost. I know some companies that had quotas, last month only to find them lost today, so my belief is, the doors are more than half shut! And that companies will be forced to take Singaporean labour like it or not, many need the skills of retraining, although many Singaporeans refuse to do certain jobs too, so its a bad circle for many. But I wouldn't be too optimistic these days of securing anything in Singapore just now.

Also the entrepass criteria is tightened because of the loop holes, and since many of those that have been given the chance, haven't contributed to employing Singaporeans, why let them in...all said and done, a fair warning was in the local press, that Singaporeans would be put first. So expect it to get worse for foreign talent seeking to come to Singapore.

That is rather unfortunate. I was hoping next year would be a better time to try my luck since the economy might be a bit better but it's certainly not looking too good! :???:

There are no quotas on EP's but I wouldn't be surprised to see the points scale kicked up a notch to insure only 'higher quality' EP's get in.

The Entrepass changes are a mixed bag. There are lots of one man shows who have come in, made money, paid taxes, and been a net plus for Singapore without hiring Singaporeans.

My company would have a heck of a time. My business model outsources my admin, office, accounting, legal, and advertising functions... to Singaporeans... but that wouldn't count because I am not personally employing them. I hired quite a few EP's but they wouldn't count even though I was paid by MNC's (bringing money into Singapore) and they paid for housing, food, entertainment, and taxes with the money they made.

I could see the Entrepass scheme being tightened up but they've gone too far the other way... this is what it was like 20 years ago.
