I had gone for the US visa Interview at Singapore on 18/11/2014. Here is my Q&A.

I came in July 2008, I have been here since 6 years and 5 months.
Why did you come to Singapore?
I came here to pursue my Master’s degree at Nanyang Technological University. After my graduation I got PR and a good job. So I got settled here.
Why was your US visa rejected previously?
After my graduation, I had applied to the US to do my master’s degree. My student visa got rejected due to some issues in my documentation.
Why did you come to Singapore then?
I had applied to US and Singapore at the same time, so I chose Singapore which was my second option.

How much people did you supervise in the previous company? (This question was stressed)

My company does the Electrical and Instrumentation work for various process plants in Jurong Island.
Is it a Japanese company? (I don’t know how she figured it out).
Yes mam.

Hello, I thought of also sharing my experience and the documentation process here. I was applying for B1 Business Visa.

After browsing through the web and a week before my scheduled appointment, I've made a list of all the documents (compulsory plus those that may be relevant) as and when it came through my mind so I get as many doc ready as possible. Also it sticks to me from some postings mentioning that the officer will already have a preconceived perception that you're not to be approved unless you prove otherwise.

So here's the list:

Compulsory
1) Appointment Confirmation
2) DS 160 Confirmation Page
3) Passport
4) Fee receipt from Standard Chartered (SGD224)
5) One recent photo (square size)
6) All old passport(s)
7) Letters from SG employer and US (Host Company)

Backup
8) 3 months payslips
9) 3 months bank statements
10) Employment Letter
11) Marriage certificate
12) Children birth certificate
13) ICA/MOM letter indicating immigration status for family
14) property/Real Estate Title (for property outside US)
15) Corporate Credit Card (if in your name)
16) Rental/Tenancy agreement
17) Copy of Pass (EP/SP/WP) or SG IC (for PR)
18) Business card
19) Birth Certificate
20) Home Country IC
21) Previous company Certificate/Confirmation of employment (if you're new to current company)
22) Any official announcement email/circular on your role in current company
23) Professional/Membership Certificates

It's a heavy list I know.

During the interview, other than a few of the usual questions (what, where, why, who) the officer also requested my payslips and bank statements, matched them, and said looks fine and I'll go ahead to approve your Visa. Done!

Felt the heavy preparation work was worthwhile notwithstanding the swift process per se.

Hope this helps others too!

Cheers :)

Agree with firstattempt. These backup documents are very helpful. Although when I applied for mine, the officer didn't even request for them and the interview was finished under 3 minutes. But the ones before my turn, were caught on surprise because they did not prepare them. They had to reschedule their interviews and come back with extra documents.

Extra: If you are going there because of business trip, a letter from your company or invitation from the host company in USA stating the nature of your visit is required. Same thing if you are invited for say, a wedding in USA, a wedding invitation and an invitation letter from the bride/groom stating her particulars and yours, and the nature of this invitation, would be very helpful.
