Best tea shop?

Post by s0ph0s » Thu, 10 Sep 2009 3:23 pm

I'm new in town and looking for the best tea shop - preferably in Chinatown-esque where the locals go. Any ideas?

I already have some excellent oolong from Taiwan but am looking for a nice herbal or ginger tea.

Thanks

Tons in Chinatown...

* Tea Chapter (http://www.tea-chapter.com.sg/) is where the tourists go. Good place to drink tea, pretty expensive if you want to buy any though.
* Yixing Xuan (http://www.yixingxuan-teahouse.com/), similar but less touristy
* Yue Hwa (http://www.yuehwa.com.sg) has a vast tea selection on their 4th floor ($20,000 for a pu erh cake, anyone?)
* Several very local tea shops in the HDB arcade between Chinatown Point and South Bridge Rd.

For an awesome tea place, get to Raffles Place MRT, then go out to Republic Plaza for a place called TWG Tea House:
