Anyone interested in Submission Wrestling/Grappling?

Post by SunWuKong » Tue, 08 Sep 2009 9:41 am

I live in Sengkang on the North-East line (NEL) and have posted within Compass Heights for interested parties, but have gotten no bites. So here I am casting a little further afield.

Whilst living in Melbourne, Australia, I studied a form of Submission Wrestling called Martial Kinetics for around six months before coming to Singapore, and am now missing it very much.

Anyone who would like to learn Submission Wrestling, grapple for fitness or expand an already developed reportoire please feel free to contact me.

Obviously living somewhere on the NEL would be a convenience to any interested persons and the cost is $0. Which compares very favorably with how much one has to fork out for similar classes in Singapore.

Thanks.

I've began running training sessions on Wednesday evenings at 7:30pm.

I've found myself answering the same questions over and over, so I'll post some more information here.

We train on thin mats that absorb some energy, but are more useful for preventing abrasions. A major emphasis of the techniques is avoiding injury even when fighting on unyielding surfaces like concrete and ashphalt.

If you have Gi, feel free to wear it, as it is generally quite good at preventing scratches and abrasions. Socks are also a good idea for the same reason. If you don't have Gi from previous martial arts endeavours, the minimum is a pair of pants and a towel, but you'll miss the protection even a T-shirt can provide.

*bump*

I am moving to a place close to Bakau LRT in Sengkang. Always on the look out for new training partners.

Cheers.
