Work then study

Post by steveleeds » Tue, 08 Sep 2009 1:02 am

Is it possible to arrive on a P work pass, and at some point convert to Permanent Resident and become a student? I'm thinking of moving to Singapore for work, but don't want to rule out doing graduate studies at some point under the cheaper PR student fees. Are there any limitations , timeline issues or gotchas for this scenario?

Thanks

Other than the problem of getting the PR in the first place, no. If you get past that hurdle, then going for your masters should be easy, however, you would need to show your tax returns for the past three years when you have to renew your re-entry permit after 5 years. Provided you can do that, you should be okay.

True, the requirements seem to have been tightened, however it is still not impossible. It all depends on your education, work, income, family status... the list is long and so are the processing times. It is not impossible though and you can certainly try it but don't bet on it. What is certainly a thing of the past is ICA granting PR after 3 months on EP.
