Basketball in Singapore

Post by pacer0928 » Sat, 05 Sep 2009 6:31 pm

Hello everyone! New here in Singapore. Been looking for a good place to find some nice pick up games here, but have not had much luck so far.

Any recommendations?

Thank you all!

I see people playing at the basketball courts at the NUS Bukit Timah campus (Evans road across from Mr. Prata). There are expats/locals so I think it's a pickup game.

Yeah, I used to play there. It's usually pretty easy to pick up a game.

Also, a friend of mine is a coach and can get you in a league. Go to http://www.ljesports.com. He is starting an adult league team in October if you're interested.

Cool, thanks for the recommendations. Any tips where I can buy a good indoor/outdoor basketball here? I hit up some Addidas and Nike stores but they only have soccer / track stuff...

Will the league have a fee ChrisB?

Thank you once again for the information.

Yeah, all leagues have a fee. The philipino leagues are the most fun to play in IMHO.

Outdoor courts here have high grip surfaces so they chew up just about anything. I'm done with buying $100 balls only to see them get rubbed bare. I get the pointer ball for about $30 from Queensway or from the basement of that shopping centre next to excelsior hotel (near Funan). They're a local company and their shoes aren't too bad either.

If you want to play on wood floors, you have to pay. The Bukit Timah courts have some indoor courts for rent but the LJE comp uses the Anglo Chinese school on Bukit Timah Road.
