hey guys

too late for a 34 year old guy to train as a pilot?

I was busy with family and financial commitments since graduate...

also, will AB-Initio programs admit me at my age??

life sucks without money - I missed some chances in life..

what do you think?? Will I miss this pilot "dream" as well??

I also did some homework online

some bad reviews on cathay pacific - treat their cadets badly,

and nearly impossible to get out of CX (ie hop to another airlines) after you are in..

You can take a look @ http://www.cathaypacific.com/cpa/en_INT ... quirements
The recruitment just closed recently.

CX will not hire anybody. The Cathay Pacific are racist. They prefer the white than their own Hong Kees.

Err... that is the most ignorant thing I have read... still tons of Hong Kong cadets being hired... this is even after the cadets program been opened internationally... about 30-40% of those hired are still Hong Konger...

In terms of packages for cadets... the CX cadets packages beat the SQ, Emirates, Qatar, China Airlines, or any airlines from mainland china...

CX cadets package are inferior to those who are Direct Entry Pilots / Expat Pilots who has thousands of hours prior to joining CX... but you do need to factor in the fact that your training is free and that you join a first rated international airlines on day one of your career.

Finally, the whole impossible to get out thing is a myth... CX ask you to stay at the company for 6 years... if you leave earlier, the company reserve the right to ask for their training cost back, which to me is pretty fair deal... Also, it is always different to hop from one airline to another due to the whole seniority system in the airlines... most airline pilots stuck with one or two airlines for their whole career. Being an airline pilot is not like being a banker or lawyer who jump from firm to firm every 2 or 3 years or so...

Air Flight Training has a number of different specialist endorsement training programs which allow a qualified pilot to exercise priviledges on aircraft associated with the endorsment type.
