Relocating to Singapore in January 2010

My husband and I with our 10 year old daughter will be relocating to Singapore soon. I am keen to make friends at Singapore before we land there! I have lots of questions to ask about schools and places to live. I hope some of you will have some time to spend with a newbie like me thats groping in the dark for some information!

This forum can at time be harsh on newbies but as Indians we are here to help. You can ask whatever u want to ....(I moved 3 months ago from Bangalore with 9 and 8 year olds, going to NPS here)

For starters you are in the right place. Trust me on this, this site is perhaps THE best site to get information on Singapore.

Hey. Thanks for that note. I am convinced that I am at the right place too! I have already met Ajit ( bless you!) and you. We are going to be at Singapore end of the month and hopefully will identify the school that our daughter will be in, then. Will be in touch!

Nope, we have not moved in yet. We will post April. Our daughter has another term of school to end the current year. My husband though will relocate in January 2010. Keep those messages coming! I will call once I have relocated! Thanks!

hi I am new to the forum.....newbie:)
we are planning to relocated around march-april 2010. I do have a lot of queries espeically about schools and hope to get insights from you all.
I know about the GIIS, NPS and DPS as Indian curriculum schools but I am also interested in other schools which has a diverse environment.
My girl is 5 yrs old and goes to an IB school currently.
I would like her to continue in IB curriculum but also want her to be in a academic student focused environment.
The International Schools i am reading about doesnt seem to be focusing on students who might need to be challenged. But at the same time i donot want my daughter to be in schools which have predominately western population.
Do any of your children go to schools other than GIIS, NPS or DPS? i am not looking at local schools as it will be quite diffcult to get admission in there.
pls do let me know your thoughts.
