Asian-Canadian living in Singapore

Post by iJayden » Fri, 28 Aug 2009 3:19 pm

Hi this is my first post here...Hope you all can help me and guide me.

I am a 23 yrs old asian-canadian man from Montreal who wants to live and work in Singapore for a while. I speak french and english fluently but did not graduate from university yet. I would like to know if it would be hard for me to find a job in SG.

So far I found a job as a service customer's rep and thay are willing to pay me 1500/month. Is that enough? What about the housing, how much is it per month average...

I really want to travel and discover the world... Singapore is on my top list since english is used widely and country looks so beautiful also.

P.S...I will fly to Asia in a month

asian-canadian? so you are an asian holding a canadian passport? anyway, depending on your lifestyle S$1500/month could be enough. you will have to do a lot more research on this forum or on the internet on the cost of living in singapore.

Unless you can find something that pays you AT LEAST 1800/mo you can forgeddit. Western passport holders cannot get Work Permits here, Asian or not. The lowest Pass you can get would be an S pass, but even that is debatable as you do not have any tertiary degree/diploma which is a basic requirement. Your best bet is to finish your degree and then get 1 or 2 years of relevant experience BEFORE trying to come here. Why would the Ministry of Manpower give you an Employment Pass where there are literally '000's of Singaporeans/PR's already here with degrees that can do the job. Just because an employer is willing to hire you, doesn't mean the MOM will approve it.

Therein lies the problem.
