Post by chixchix » Thu, 27 Aug 2009 4:46 pm

Does a Indon maid need a Visa to enter Bintan ? I was told to get her passport endorsed by the Indon Embassy if not I will have to pay more than a 100 dollars at the Bintan terminal..is it true ?

Don't know if you have to pay going in but you will have to pay the exit visa for nationals when you leave.

If I'm not mistaken, I seem to remember it's about 150,000 Rp

Nope, fiskal is a cool 1,000,000 Rp. Used to be 500,000 Rp if you go by boat instead of flying, not sure if this is still the case... and registered taxpayers no longer have to pay, so you might want to look into this.

Ouch! But that's probably right. Exchange rates would make it about the same I guess, as when I worked there back in the last millennium, the exchange rate was quite a bit different then. :o
