How to open a small retail shop

One of my friends is looking for information on how to go about opening a small retail shop like the ones we see in Bugis or in between area of big shopping malls where they sell all those funky stuff.

Any idea how shall he go about it? What is the basic investment as in resources and what is the legal procedures for registration etc?

why don't you call bugis junction at 6557 6556 and ask?
most malls have a website and you can get their leasing hotline from there.
