Hi,

I have been offered a oportunity of relocating to singapore, I have a family and would like to live in a good area.

The office is in the raffles area and I would like to live around 30mins from home, i've been looking in area 9 & 15.

Does anyone have any recommendations on areas or maps/details which would give me an idea how far away the areas are?

Thanks
Darren

30 minutes can put you half way across the island from Raffles place in any direction (Think Clementi/Jurong East, East Coast almost to Bedok, or north as far as Ang Mo Kio. Once you get outside 3 MRT stops rents start becoming more reasonable and better deals can be had.

I work at Raffles Place and live in Tampines. Less than 30 minutes by train! The area is really nice!

i think location, location, location doesnt quite apply in singapore coz it is so small and just about everywhere is nice and safe, and public transport is good. if you got kids, it would be better to stay somewhere near the school than your place of work. yes, kid's school comes first in location, location, location!

for maps - http://www.singaporeexpats.com/housing- ... -guide.htm and maps.google.com.

Thanks for your comments.

Any further suggestions on areas would be really helpful currently looking at round 5k per month to allocate to rent!

if you plan to send your kids to an International School i strongly recommend to consider a location close to the school as some
intl. school buses do not serve D15/D16.

it'll take you roughly 20mins from Tanah Merah (D16) to Raffles by MRT.

cheers
