relo to US-need advice

Post by justme » Wed, 13 Oct 2004 5:52 pm

We're relocating to US in a few months and hubby's company paying for the shipping. We're going to be there for a few years, is there anything you'd recommend that we should ship over?

We have some basic furniture that we'll be bringing over but are wondering if we should buy the big items here & ship or buy over there? In particularly, our old sofa here has been jumped on to smithereens by the kids and is in need of a replacement anyway. Is the quality/selection/price of sofas and such comparable?

Thanks!

Hi. You can buy anything you can imagine in the US. The only issue is price. If you don't have unlimited funds to set up an entirely new household, and if your shipping is free anyway, you may find it worthwhile to ship over what you have and get rid of it here if you later find something you prefer and can afford. Where in the US will you be?

Just about anywhere you live in the US you will be able to find furniture of all price ranges and quality levels. Just like here, you can spend a lot of money on a sofa or a much lesser amount. Unless you have seen a sofa you really like here, I wouldn't worry about finding something in the US - you will have plenty of choices. Same is true for whatever other furnishings you will need/want. Good luck!
