am i not allowed to take taxi short distance?
it was almost midnight, high heels (of course cab driver didnt know), and would have been 25 minutes walk..
"There is no bus? why you dont just walk?"----exactly the words he said
My bad huh?
I'll remember to carry flip flop next time...

All the other taxi drivers have been very nice in Singapore though :)
Were you wearing white and had your hair long and rebonded?

:P

Some taxi drivers don't like picking up short fares if they have been in the queue for a period of time i.e Airports, Ferry Terminals etc. I suppose you just had bad luck to meet one of the 50 who give cabbies a bad name
Just me

once i thought the taxi driver was taking me for a ride by going the long way but it turn out the short route was jammed up. good job i kept my mouth shut during the ride.

once i got my brother visiting me. he took a taxi straight from changi. i was at the condo foyer when the taxi arrive and i thought the driver overcharged him and query the driver. but the driver produce the receipt and it was correct. i wish i kept my mouth shut!

so question to the OP, how do you know you were overcharge and by how much? what was the meter showing? did you get a receipt?

so, let me get this right,

the attitude was that he said you live in an HDB? oh that should have really hurt your pride, eh? how he dares! specially when he is fetching you at the tanglin club

about the over charge... how much it was? S$ 20.00? S$ 30.00? and how do you know he took the long way? and by the way... over charge means he charged you more than the fare in the fares thingy... so are you saying that the fare was a number and he just threw some more dollars to it? please explain...

to answer you question, no... happily for me i dont have similar problems at all, i am quite sure of me as not to get my class pride threatened and i dont mind sometimes passing an extra dollar or two to someone who has to drive all sort of jerks all over the city and deal with their attitude...

:D
I was upset because he SHOUTED at me and also repeated the area I lived in 5 times........as if HE could not have heard correctly.
I love where I live....So I dont have an issue and I don't worry if its a HBD, or whatever. I was more concerned that his attitude would scare someone that could not stand up for themself. I Think he had a problem from where he collected me.

See I dont have any hang ups in life. I am happy and secure in my skin.
My point was he was RUDE and tried to intemidate me But

THANKS for your reply. MAYBE you related to HIM.

yah, i assumed as much... carrying durians in the middle of the night was a long shot...

generally i agree with what others have said, maybe just a rough case of a grumpy cabbie trying to get the midnight charge or just being plain rude, maybe it was the same cabbie who got scolded by the OP call :-)

Hibri2,
Do you have to keep going on and on? Zeenit has had his/her point. Have a laugh by all means but no need to revert to psycho analysis.

Ps: Some of your posts are in the rubbish thread.:P

Actually, Einstein, it both shows that you have a lack of a decent upbringing . . . and it also shows that you don't know that using profanity in public is an offence . . . not just in Singapore.
That the mere complaints of us lowly expats are not important?
Speak for yourself, but no need to denigrate yourself . . . why did this become an 'Expat vs Local' issue again? Do you get off on this stuff to prove that you are an expat, even though you may not look like one, aside from the domestic help?
That freedom to express our discontent in this tiny country is not permitted or regarded as anti-Singaporean?
Wow, you have a good imagination. So now you are saying this is an affront to your democratic principles?

Good grief!

Zeenit, do you take a lot of cabs? I think you found a bad apple, no? By and large I think they are a fairly courteous, professional lot. I have limited experience, true ~ but have only had a rude driver a few times over the years. Some teenage boys showed up at my door a few years ago ~ their taxi driver had actually physically assaulted them :o You were right to lodge a complaint, try to put it behind you and move on, I don't think its endemic.

As we live very close to a MRT station so that is my preferred mode of transport. But not today as I am not well.

I agree that in the year we been here I have never encountered being Shouted at as I was.
I complained because I did not want someone else to experience what I had today. I did not mention that overcharge as it was not important compare to his manner.

So thank for your post. I never believed that I would be attcked as I was on this forum. makes my taxi drive mild in comparsion. :o
