Singapore Expats

Hello Everyone
I plan to move to Singapore within the next month and would like to bring my pet dwarf ball python with me.

He is about 1 meter long and 3 cm around captive bred by professional breeders in America. He's a dwarf so he will never grow larger than he is now. He eats a live feeder mouse about once a month but I'm not sure how he would handle the frozen ones the pet supply shops sometimes sell. I've had him for about 17 years now and it would be terrible to have to leave him behind with relatives or a stranger when I move.

Does anyone have experience bringing reptiles into Singapore? Pet snakes? Are there any forms or licenses to fill out?

Does anyone know if its possible to get live feeder mice or frozen (pre-killed) feeder mice at pet supply shops in Singapore?

I had previously emailed the Singapore Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority and their response was that only Dogs, Cats, Birds and "pond turtles" could be imported as pets. However there must be some way to bring my pet into the country and find available food for him in Singapore. Perhaps a form or permit I've not located yet.

What they sent you was correct. There is no way to import any other animal into Singapore legally. And doing it illegally will get you into heaps of trouble so don't even think about it.

Only the Zoo has special privileges!

The good news is that if you are not particularly attached to this specimen, the AVA people regularly pull much larger pythons out of the storm drains.

It seems that I'll have to leave him behind when I move. It sucks but its the best course of action for my pets well being.

I agree that illegally importing him is really bad and should not be considered. Its much to great a risk and the penalties and logistics aren't worth it.
