New large apartment condos - An extinct concept?

Post by jp900 » Sun, 26 Jul 2009 1:26 am

I am looking to buy an apartment in Singapore, and almost every new condo coming up is a matchbox-sized concept inspired by Hong Kong.

My question: does anyone know any condo that matches these criteria:

1. Located in a decent place (Bukit Timah, Holland Village, Novena, etc)

2. Has some greenery around it (perhaps Novena or Newton is out?)

3. Has large 3 to 4 bedrooms, not 2 okay bedrooms with one small excuse of a room just to bill it as a "3 bedroom" apartment on paper.

4. With at least two rooms having an attached bathroom? Ideally even all the three? Most 3-4 bedroom apts have only one attached, and then just a single bathroom shared by the rest of the rooms!

What happened to the old style apartments? Sometime back in the paper I read that large condos were again making a comeback. Where is it? If we spend close to 2 million bucks, we might as well hope for some space and views, no?
