Hi All!
I'm new to the forum and have been browsing for the past months. I'm interested on the best place for a single female to live in Singapore near other expats. All posts seem to be for people with families coming to the country. I'm just looking for something close to an MRT, close to stores/restaurants, and safe. I know districts 9 and 10 are close to everything but I was hoping you all had other suggestions. Best value for my money, etc... I will be working in Marina Bay. Moving around September/October. Any input is appreciated. Thank you!

Welcome in advance!
Since you are working at Marina, the best places to live would be East Coast or Lavender or to a certain extent Little India. But if you have never been to Asia, then I would recomment East Coast. There are many wonderful apartments out there. But the East Coast section where apartments are does not have an MRT unless you stay closer to the stations. The other option is the Sail @ Marina. I am not sure of your budget. This would be my order of search.
1. River Valley Road, Robertson Quay, Chinatown (Club Street, Tanjong Pagar) - Only Chinatown areas have an MRT at a walking distance less than 10 minutes. The others are serviced by buses. And they are still considered town area
2. East Coast - Tanjong Rhu, Fort Road, Meyer Road (No MRT but plenty of buses serving the trip to downtown. downtown is visible across the river)
3. Newtown, Novena - At the peripheral edge from downtown. Residential feel. Plenty of shops and a train stations. Trip from Novena/Newton to Marina MRT is 8-10 minutes.
Good Luck! and if you do need any specifics, drop me a PM.

Hi Vegas Girl
There are many expatriates working in Singapore and they are scatter around the island in most of the
condominium estate. I guess you may consider staying in a studio apartment or
condo in any areas that you find comfortable with.
Singapore is a relatively safe place to stay, and most condo has their security in place too.
Welcome to Singapore

We really like little India. Good food and everything convenient.
There are no places in Singapore that are not safe as far as I can tell.
Living a few blocks from the MRT is a huge advantage.

Little India is always full of life from dawn to dusk. Well connected to the rest of the island via MRT and buses. And since you are going to be working in Marina area, you will love it and its jus lying outside the CBD area so you dont have to pay extras getting into the area.
Hope this helps...
