moving to Singapore soon

Post by wouterv81 » Tue, 21 Jul 2009 4:28 am

Hi all,
I'm gonna move so Singapore soon, and I am very excited. I have lived a while in Bangkok but I am sure it will be completely different.

I will be working near Jurong and would like to know where I should best look for accomodation, taking into account the traffic, the rental price, the type of house/condo, parking space, and being close to mass transportation etc..

Also, do people ride bicycles there? We are doubting to bring ours.

Thanks
Wouter

Hi Wouter
Yes, we do cycle here in Singapore, but not so much to work / office but more for exercise to keep fit. Reason being the morning traffic here is rather heavy.
As for accommodation, you may consider looking at these regions; you can find both terrace houses and condo in these areas.
a. West Coast Road
b. Clementi
c. Jurong East
Parking is not an issue for condo and terrace, because most of the time tenant is allocated with a parking lot. As for public transport, you can find the MRT, buses and taxi available in these areas. The challenge is to get a taxi in the morning rush hours and both public buses and MRT can be crowded during the morning hours.
Hope this give u a brief idea of what u r looking for. And welcome to Singapore

Northvale at Choa Chu Kang - Across road from MRT and 3 stops to Jurong (approx 12 mins on train) Approx $2500 mth for 3+1

The Jade at Bukit Panjang - Right next to MRT and 2 stops to Jurong (approx 8mins on train) approx $3500 3+1

Yew Tee Residences at Yew Tee - Right on MRT and 4 stops to Jorong (approx 15 mins on train) approx $2600 3+1

All 3 condos are very nice, Yew Tee is brand new with shopping mall underneath. They all have shopping malls.

There is also a new condo being built at Boon Lay above the shopping mall and direct access to the MRT. Which is only 3 or 4 stops to Jurong
