renting house scamming!!!

Hello All,
Recently we rented a HDB through an agent, his name is D. We paid 2 months deposit, and 1 month in advanced (the contract is for one year). After one month, the owner of the house called us, and ask for advanced on the rental fee, we said we can't give her that, then after couple of days, she asked us to return the house, because we made too much noise. This is absurd, since we always come home around 11, and go straight to bed. We asked the agent to take care of it, but he said he could not call the owner, and the owner does not return his call, but whenever we SMS the owner, she answers the SMS. We asked the owner to return the deposit, but she said she spent it all... !!!!. We ask the agent to take care of it, he said he does not know what to do... !!!. And he already took the fee(half month rental fee)
Should we go to the police and report this? Or is there any number should we call to take care of this?

Sit tight until it goes to court, let the landord bare the cost, refuse to move and tell them, they can take it to the small claims court for arbitration if they like, also make a police report and tell them you have a contract for 1 year and you are not moving ,ask the police if they will help if the landlord starts to make trouble.

Is there anyway that I can sue the agent? he is pretty much irresponsible in this case...

To sue the agent may cause u more time and money, Do consider getting the police to handle this first, (important to make a police report so that there is a record of this dispute) this will prevent the landlord to create unnecessary disturbance during your stay.

You should also lodge a complaint with the SAEA.

They are in the process of clamping down on these that are not qualified to be agents. only 20% of the 30,000 agents are qualified, which is only 6000. (Singapore Accredited Estate Agencies) Police is your first step.
