Urgent help regarding S Pass

Post by flame » Sun, 19 Jul 2009 3:08 am

Hello, everybody. I've come across some problems regarding S Pass. I would first explain my situation.

I am an EPEC holder with LTVP. I'm in healthcare industry and have 1 year working experience. I have a job offer from one small company and they have submitted an S Pass application for management job at $1,800. The status is still pending. It says: " Pending inputs from vetting agencies. Expected outcomes is 2 months from the date of application."
However, I got another job offer from one large healthcare company, which I most likely to accept (at $1,800). And they are willing to apply an S Pass for me too.
I have taken the EP/S Pass self assessment test before and I'm eligible for both Pass.

My question is:
1) Is it common with 2 months expected outcomes? As far as I know, it usually takes 2-5weeks max, or maybe it has to do with today's recession...?!
2) Do I have to ask the first employer to withdraw the application so the second employer can submit a new one? Is it possible to submit more than one application at the same time?

I have called MOM twice regarding the 2nd question, and they gave me different answers:
1) First employer should withdraw the application before the second can submit a new one.
2) You can submit a new one and wait for the IPA, then withdraw the first one, so that you can secure a job.

I have no idea at all. I've been hunting jobs for almost 9 months that I'm afraid to make a slight mistake :???:
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you very much!!

The safest method it withdraw the first application and then submit the 2nd. But I've known people to do it both ways. Less chance for confusion using the first.

Thank you for the reply, SMS. Apparently the previous application has to be withdrawn before submitting new application, and now it is being processed. Hopefully MOM will approve it. God bless.

Finally, my work pass has been approved. :) I was getting the same message again to wait for 2 months for my second application, but then I went directly to MOM after 9 working days and they approved it on that day. To my surprise, MOM actually gave me EP Q1. I guess EPEC is quite useful in this case (or not?!)

Well, good luck to everyone in job hunting. :)

Hi,

are you saying that an epec holder can apply for s pass too? I was under the impression that you must apply for Work Pass only if you are an epec holder, just wondering because I am interested in working in Singapore.

My guess is you need a degree for the EP Q1 and you do not for the S pass or work pass. But there is other criteria involved, all it takes is a visit to the website to read the criteria.

The type of pass you get is primarily based on your salary range. There is no restriction set by the EPEC as far as I know..

I thought I can only get s pass because my salary range is not qualified for Q1 pass, but I was given Q1 pass.

You state you are qualified for both passes, so you must be a degree holder and meet the criteria of 2500, though my guess is, your company is screwing you, claiming they are paying 2500 and paying you 1800! though you don't have much choice if you want the job. You should report it to MOM. Someone is 700$ better off at your expense.

Hi Flame,

Regarding what you said did you really go to MOM first and then they approved it? Or you go to MOM, after you know that your EP had approved and need to collect those from them?

The former one. Went to MOM first and then got approved.

I am having the same problem now. It's been 3 weeks and my EP hasn't been approved. MOM tells me it will take another 2 months. Could you please tell me whom you approached at MOM to get it approved on the spot.

Thank you

vickyt,
Understand your tough situation. But please don't double post in many parallel threads.

Wait for SMS or MS or KSL to answer your question

Thanks
