To EP or not to EP?

Post by Kookie » Tue, 12 Oct 2004 9:08 pm

Hello All.
Quick question, We're on our way to Singapore, We already have a partnership of a business there. We hope to go back and expand our business. My question is which Employment pass should I apply for? Would it be easier to apply for the normal EP or for a Entrepass?
Any pass experiences??? Also, would it be better to apply in the UK, or when we get to Singapore?

Will you be staying in Singapore for long term?
I would advise to come in Singapore with a visitor's visa first, and apply for a EP during the mean time. It would be easier to trouble-shoot any problem if you are physically around.

You apply for an entre pass when you either wish to start a new biz here or if you are a "sleeping" partner and wish to participate actively in the biz here.
Entre pass is definitely more difficult. Normal employment pass is much easier as you are assessed on your qualifications, working experience, job suitability. For entre pass, you'll have to submit a biz plan which will be reviewed by external govt agencies apart from the Singapore immigration. It can take more more than 2 months to get a reply.
Hope this helps.
