Any one know why there is no Nando's franchise here in Singapore? Don't you think it would do well here? Has it been tried before?

Both Nando's and King Pie are quite successful in KL. I thought the same thing myself - but then there probably is too much competition in the "spicy food market" for them to really stand out. Contact the HQ and find out who owns the SG franchise (suspect its the same person who has the MY one).

There are a couple of other piri-piri chicken joints here already, saw one in Iluma the other day. Didn't seem to be wildly successful...

Being from London, if you follow the same model as Nando's - it will definitely work.

Unless my memory serves me wrong, Nando's was here some time back (quite a few years already).
It's gone now.

Thats extremely surprising....I think I may have read reviews (although I maybe wrong) but it didn't serve well interms of decor and service...
I have a number of business ideas within the f&b industry which would do fantastically well but do not have the finance to back such initiatives...

I enquired a few years ago (2006) about buying the master franchiser rights for this, but was told it was already secured.
I am speculating whoever owns it for Malaysia has somehow managed to include Singapore as a part of their licence/territory.
The official reason given to us by Nando's HQ a few years ago was that it wasn't open as yet in Singapore because of fear of bird flu.

Nando's in Bugis will be opening in May. Doesn't sound like it is the same individual who had the place a couple of years back.

Definitely a taste for Mexican food... just not fast food joints like Tacky Smell.
There is a Cafe Iguana near my place on Greenwood, and they do a very good representation of Tex Mex, although the best Mexican food I have found is in KL.
