Will my TV from the US work in Singapore?

Post by Dave22 » Sun, 12 Jul 2009 5:45 pm

I have seen similar posts to mine however I've received different replies to this question during my last business trip to Singapore. I will be moving to Singapore later this year and plan on bringing my LCD TV's from the States, both are dual-voltage HD TV's. I sent an email to Starhub technical support and they told me my TV's will NOT work in Singapore with their digital cable (i.e. Hubstation HD) service but didn't give me a very good (or detalied) explanation why. I went to look at LCD's at Audio House in Liang Court and the sales person told me that my TV's from the States WILL work in Singapore if I get digital cable and use the HDMI connection from the digital cable box to my TV.

So I have two different answers and tend to trust the information I received from Audio House more than Starhub. Has anyone from the States recently moved to Singapore and brought their TV's with them? Can anyone confirm if they'll work or not? Thanks in advance for any information. Regards, Dave

US is NTSC signal. Singapore (and most of the rest of the world is PAL). Newer sets often have both. Another option is to find a dual mode DVD player... you run your cable into DVD player (PAL) and feed NTSC from DVD player to TV.
