Hiring a Filipina helper direct from Taiwan

Post by liual » Sat, 11 Jul 2009 1:59 pm

Hi - I have scoured the board looking for more information on the topic and found very little. We have hired a couple maids in the past through agencies but have not had great luck with them.

We do know of a helper in Taiwan who is interested in working for us in Singapore (my wife's sister helper). I realize everyone goes through an agent here but I want to avoid going to an agent so I can avoid the high upfront loans but wanted to find out if anyone has had experience processing the papers themselves. I was also going to go to MOM on Havelock to ask about the process too. I have done the process myself in Hong Kong but the HK immigration process is different from here.

Any helpful input on this scenario would really help!

Go to MOM and get them to start the process. Don't bother with middle men.
