Good expat site like this one but for China

Post by Adamkl » Wed, 08 Jul 2009 7:22 pm

Dear All,

I am not longer moving to Singapore but will be heading off to China in a few months.

Can anyone point me to a Expat website which is as good as this one but that deals with Mainland China.

I have looked but with little or no luck.

Thanks in advance

Adam

Google is your friend.

I searched Forum Expat China and I found a lot of forums about that....

www.shanghaiexpat.com

warning... it can be a bit extreme! It's a very active forum, threads can reach pages in minutes - and users often get flamed for posting stupid questions/comments.

having said that - I found it to be a fantastic resource (visas, regulations, culture etc) once you sift through the crap.

It's also very soapish - meaning that ongoing feuds, relationships, topics can be followed day to day.

even if you aren't based in shanghai, there is useful info here, and many users from other parts of china too.

Maybe its a bit late, but which part of China are you at right now? I was in Shanghai for quite a while.

www.shanghaistuff.com

www.cityweekend.com

www.citymoments.com

These are the sites i use pretty often while i was there. Its really helpful. and I think there are more sites for expats there besides those 3 i gave to you. Its more fun than this site. Hope its helpful tho. ...

The red dot might be small, but its got talent! The size of China well, tell me about it. We cannot win them in every way  Good forums we can, becuase expats are spread more widely across China, than Singapore, :???: I wonder why that is?

yes eyefone and dep are right.

http://www.shanghaiexpat.com/MDForum.phtml is an invaluable source of information. you will meet all sorts of jokers there but they're pretty good natured folks and fun loving too.

I used to follow on ein Beijing called "That's Beijing", but I think they renamed it "the Beijinger"
Worth a look, not too different to this one really
