Late Cancellation of EP - consequences?

Post by szeyuet » Wed, 08 Jul 2009 3:59 pm

Hi,

My last day of service was on 17 June but my company is paying me till end of the month (30th June) as paying notice stated in the employment contract. My company cancelled my EP on the 30th instead of 17th June. However, it also stated in my last pay slip that my last working day is 17th.

I am currently in the process of applying a new EP in which I have declared my last day of service with previous employer is on 17th.

question - Is cancellation on 30th considered a violation on MOM regulations? Andwhat would be the worst consequences? Will i be fined, prosecuted or my new EP application rejected? Anyone who can offer some insights is much appreciated as I am worrying sick now. Thanks!

Did the company cancel on the 30th? Have you received your new approval letter? Right now, you should have a temporary 30 day pass in your passport.

I don't see a problem. The company paid you through the 30th and kept you on the books through the 30th. As long as they cancelled you at MOM by July 7, no issue

I can't see that it matters that you put June 17 on your new EP application. Anyone could see you got two weeks pay by staying on the books and being on holiday.
