Dr. K is phenomenal ! He did a revision rhino on me in Jan 2012. Yanhee was afraid to touch it. Dr. K. approached it well and from so many dimensions The outcome... I am so happy.

Maybe you should ask him why he's not on this list??

http://www.surgery.or.th/en/surgeon.php

If people really think he's phenomenal, then maybe they wouldn't mind sharing some before and after pictures.......oh and telling you the price as he's the most expensive in Bangkok due to some clever advertising and marketing.

ukorientalgirl wrote:Hey everyone!

Got back from Yoskarn a couple of days ago. And I am happy to say, a very successful trip!!!!

I really dont know where to start, anywho. I had 3 procedures done at Yoskarn, eyelash implants, eyelid revision and rino (alar, tiplasty and refinement of bridge)

When I arrived in Thailand i was taken straight to the hospital for some tests, blood pressure, x-ray and blood tests, needless to say this really scared me and I started having doubts about the whole trip. My main worry was that I was not fit enough to go through with the surgery so thank god it was all ok!

Anyway I will try keep it short. I stayed at aphrodite inn which is linked directly with yoskarn, they have a door that leads straight into the clinic so no need to walk the streets all puffy and swollen!

My consultation with Dr Somyos Kunachak was about 25 minutes, he had his surgical gear on and seemed a bit rushed for time. he looked at my nose and proposed a silicone implant alar, tip refinement. I said no to the silicone implant which he accepted. My main concern with my nose is not my bridge, altho it is not very high it is not low to start off with. So he suggested alar, tiplasty bridge refinement and aquamid on the upper part of my nose bridge. I asked to see some pictures and he said to look at his website, admittedly this disheartened me a little. So then I asked his assistants if i could see pictures and they said they would show me the next day which they did after i had paid. I think they are only willing to show you before and afters when you are definately going to have surgery with them.

I looked at rhinos of western and asian patients and i have to say they were incredible. Alot of them were revisions too which is actually alot harder than primary. Some of them had really complexed noses and Dr Kunachak had managed to turn them not only into 'normal' looking noses but into really beautiful looking ones. There were lots of folders of before and after pictures, she couldnt show me most of them as they had not given permission. But the ones I saw made me much more confident and relaxed about the whole situation. I saw a couple of eyelid revisions, which again I was impressed with and a few eyelash transplant ones.

Had my eyes and nose done together, minimal pain although the injections were quite nasty. The packing that is used to stuff the nose is awful too, i couldnt breathe out of my nose for 3 days and had a really sore throat and any water i tried to drink kept going up the wrong pipe! The worse procedure was the eyelash transplant. Dr Somyos' team performed the transplant on me, with about 4 of them working on me. The injections were incredibly painful and I actually cried during the procedure!haha I feel stupid and bad for crying but it was so painful I couldnt keep it in.

I am 2 weeks post op and I must say I absolutely adore my new nose. Id like to share my pictures but not just posting them up here. My tip is so defined and 'cute' and the contour of my nose is just so delicate and feminine! Is there a photo album site where I can make an album and a special password for people? I am so happy with what Dr Somyos has done for me, the longer I was at Yoskarn the more friendly and warm Dr Somyos and thier team were to me. The post op care is amazing, and they would often bring me treats and desserts. I am also very happy with my eyes although they are still swollen and its too early for the results of eyelash transplant (can take 6 months).

Dr Somyos is a very busy man. After my eyelid revision they took me to my room for about 15 minutes as he had a couple of consultations to see to....now I realise when I had my consultation what he was doing. Then after that they did my nose. I think he finished at around 9pm. So to those who were also put off by his website, I dont blame him if he does not have any time to look at it, he is always working!!! I saw alot of patients, and a few with bandaged up noses....am still surprised there is still so little information about him on the net, as in my personal opinion he is a very highly skilled surgeon.

wow, theres so much I can say but am just so overwhelmed. Please anyone ask questions because I know how one persons opinion/experience matters so much as I was researching I was desperate for the slightest bit of information. Fire away!!
Hi,can you share with me your pics,I'm thinking of having dr somyos to do my nose and eyelids!thanks!

[quote="diane2"]Hi
I have received so many pm's, that I feel I would now like to post my experience at Yoskarn. However, if anyone has any specific questions please feel free to pm me and I will try to clarify anything that is unclear.
Best Di

Last summer I went to see Prof K regarding a face lift, which I felt was needed. I'm not a glamorous or particularly vain person I just felt that at my age I was ready to have the sagging pulled up a little. I met with Prof K one evening at Yoskarn after he had finished whatever he does at Chulalongkorn University. His manner was nice enough, but I had a feeling he could be telling me more and it felt a bit rushed. At the consultation and after I had told him what I wanted, he asked me if I would like it done that evening, but of course I said no and I wanted to think about it. I went away and looked up the Internet and it appeared that he is highly trained and I couldn't find very much about him and most comments that I did find were positive.

I arranged to have the surgery at his clinic at the beginning of October under general anasthetic. The surgery was also scheduled for the evening and I was booked into the Aphrodite Inn, which connects to Yoskarn so it is convenient. At my pre-surgery consultation he then told me that if I had a face lift I would then need a brow lift as the forehead wouldn't look the same. This is the first thing and I think he should have told me this at our previous meeting. Of course, once you are there and ready to take the plunge it is scary enough, but then to be told you might 'look strange' without the additional forehead lift was even scarier. He said that if I agree to have it done at the same time he would charge me much less (his prices are as much as the USA anyway) so I agreed. He said he would make four small incisions that would be hidden in the hairline.
The next surprise that I had was the request for an extra 20,000 Thai Baht for the anesthetist, which I thought was included in the price, which included two nights free accommodation out of the 14 nights I decided to stay at Aphrodite Inn (about extra 24,000 Thai Baht).

I will cut the story brief.
After the bandages were removed my face was obviously very swollen, no problem I knew that would be the case. But of course we have to keep looking in a mirror as there is so much spare time. To my horror, I notice that instead of cutting the section in front of my ear and taking it behind, he had simply cut straight down the front of my ear and the scar would be entirely visible! Also, I noticed that my hairline had been pulled back considerably, despite him telling me that with 'his method' the hairline would not receed. I asked him about the scar being in front of my ear and his reply was 'it was too difficult as you have small ears' and then proceeded to tell me how it would fade, how they had treatments to hide it. I also mentioned about the hairline, to which he replied that he had to pull the forehead up further than he thought to make it look balanced!
I would have thought that both these things would be known on the consultation.

OK, so in April I'm healing OK and yes people said there is a big difference. However, for me I now had this scar in front of my ear which I was told would not be there and I have a hairline that is pulled back about two centimeters, which might not sound a lot but believe me it is!
I went back to see him in April and asked him if there was anything that could be done. He looked at his little green note thingy on me and said to my astonishment, 'do you want me to cut the scar into your ear'? I said, you told me when I asked you, that it couldn't be done and he appeared flustered looking at the notes but said nothing. He then said again ' do you want me to cut into the ear'? I said if you can, he wrote something down and said do you want it done today? At which point his assistant who had been lurking in the corner came over and showed me a price of $1,500!! I was astonished again as I thought (foolishly) that he would rectify it for free. I declined and left the office in disgust.

So, the conclusion is that I will get the scar rectified and cut into the ear but not by him and I have to learn to live with my receeded hairline. My hair is quite thick so I can pull it forward, but gone are the days that I could pull it back (a) because the hairline and (b) I need it forward to hide the horrible scar at the moment in front of my ear.

That's my story, not as bad as some horror stories I agree, but if I had known this I wouldn't have set foot inside Yoskarn. I am in no way telling anyone what they should or shouldn't do as it's a personal choice.

Hope that wherever you go, it is successful.
Best wishes

please think twice or think many times if anybody want to do liposuction at yoskarn clinic. the price is super expensive compare to other clinic in bangkok. they not really expertise in liposuction and in yoskarn clinic everything is rushed. dr somyos dont even bother to answer my questions and i dont even have chance to ask him first before the surgery. i spent about USD8,000 for my liposuction and the result is very very bad!

Expensive and poor results!! Look elsewhere

Post by bladersilv » Wed, 29 Jan 2014 12:23 am

Yoskarn was one of the clinic I short listed as I have done my homework beforehand and heard Doc was quite well know in his field for laser and treatment for acne scars.

To give you a quick background, I have been fighting a battle with acne scars all my life. My scars are quite deep and I have resorted to all sort of treatment such as co2lasers, fraxel and dermal roller. But each and every time, my results was not as good as I hoped if to be. I read online that doc was quite good in solving this problem, do decided to pay him a consult.

During my consultation, I felt like Doc was not volunteering as much info about procedures. He either shake or nod his head, didn't give me much confidence. I was the one doing most of talking even though I would have liked him to talk more. It wasn't right till end of consultation he suggested demabrasion. I didn't know anything about this procedure but he told me that would be best solution to my deep acne scars. No mention of the downtime needed. He say 7 days and I would be all ready to go back to work. Wow a miracle treatment? The price was steep according to my standard usd 3k but I was thinking of this last resort as I was really tired of looking at my scarred face. I told myself I would be very happy if I can achieve 50-60 % improvement.

Fast tracked to operation day, this operation was really a pain in the ass. I didn't know they were going to inject a million needles to my face to numb my entire cheek area with LA, and what was even scarier was that he practically rolled a mechanical blade to brads my skin down to the safest deepest layers. Of cos the experience wasn't pleasant but I was willing to bear with pain for the gain.

After the procedure I was covered with bandages and after removing bandages I was red like a chipmunk. When I asked doc, he told me to be patient and wait.

The redness is taking a very long time to subside unfortunately .it has been 3 months n redness still persist. Trust me, the redness is worse than the acne scars.! Unsightly and awful.

My face would be even more flushed and sensitive everytime I am under the sun. When I asked the clinic nurses they say it's common. Redness may persist for 6-9 months. WHAT the HELL. You should have told me All these during my consultation. If I knew it would take so long I wouldn't have underwent this procedure. The redness itself in my opinion is worse than the scars, as it looks like I have been drinking beer all day long or high on drugs. I can't leave the house without makeup and it's as frustrating as hell.

So to sum up, biggest mistake I made was to do dembrasion with Yoskarn, I felt like I wasn't clearly made aware of the side effects. Sometimes I feel like I paid 3k usd to disfigured myself even further. Results none in fact looks worse,.i actually went to forums to read and there I found unsatisfied clients of their laser treatments prior. If I have read it I wouldn't have don't it :(

So please think twice before going to this expensive clinic. Super hyped but quality don't seem to justify their high prices. Not recommend.

Just to quickly add it astonishes me how did he rip off so many materials from the internet abd placed it into his brochure abd websites. He's a professor surely he knows it's against copyright laws to do this without attributing it to the right sources. And good luck trying to get a follow up appointment with him after the surgery. It's been 3 months but he's too busy to even have a follow up with me. Slaughtered me up and noe desperately loooking for a revision to the scars he left :(

Hi people,

Sorry to hear you guys had bad experiences at the clinic. And thanks for sharing your stories! Just want to add some information about this clinic, so that you guys can see some of what it really is.

The prices of this clinic are much more expensive than standards of Thailand. I think most Thais will reject its offers instantly after they see the prices, and there are other known clinics, that are not so easy to reach without understanding Thai language and charge much cheaper prices. Reviews of this clinic in Thai are very scarce, so it looks like the clinic aims for foreign patients. And I feel it is easier to find information about this clinic using English keywords. (Actually, Thai surgeons whom foreigners would currently consider are very different from the surgeons whom many Thais would normally think of when they, Thais, think about surgeries.)

I just wanted to add some information about Yoskarn!

The only reason I found out about Dr Somyos Kunachak is because he is the ONLY surgeon in thailand who is Board Certified for Plastic Surgery in the USA.

I went for a consultation with him for Rhinoplasty and was quoted prices that are the SAME as doing the procedure by a Doctor educated in a first world country and this is from a guy who graduated from Mahidol University in Thailand.

I decided that was a waste of time. If you want to spend this kind of money, you should choose someone with a better education.

The only reason people choose thailand for surgery is based of cost, and he is a surgeon who only cares about money so he targets rich foreigners...

Nose surgery at Yoskarn Clinic, with Prof. Somyos Kunachak

Post by IOnlyWantTobeFree » Fri, 02 May 2014 5:07 pm

I had surgery at Yoskarn Clinic, with Prof. Somyos Kunachak, back in December of 2013. I had a lip lift, and the outcome is good. The scar is still slightly visible, but fades more and more with each passing day, as expected. The staff was VERY amicable and understanding, as well was the professor. He catered to my needs and was willing to hear me out. I did not feel especially rushed, except for this one time, but other than that, all was well and good.

I plan on having nose surgery (osteotomy, tipplasty, bridgeplasty and possibly septoplasty as well). The procedure will cost me a total of 9100 US dollars.

I have ALWAYS despised my nose. There just is not character to it.
It is round, bulbous and has even a few surface irregularitities here and there, all of which I find hard to live with. Hence I need an excellent surgeon whom can fix this and realize my ambitions.

Is Prof. Somyos Kunachak a good nose surgeon?
Can I entrust him this grave matter?

Thank you one and all!
