Hi Ukorientalgirl...

I was at Yoskarn a few days ago for consultation...yes my husband and I are very happy with the professionalism of Prof Kunachak and we feel he has tons of experience. He recommended that I had a facelift, tho I was there to consult about fats removal for the lower eyelids. We are very concerned about the facilities if I should decide to go for it....I would prefer to have it done at a hospital.

Are you able to email me your before and after photos please?
My email address is [email protected]

appreciate!!!

Cheers!!

My experience

Post by ats_syd » Wed, 17 Mar 2010 10:06 pm

Hi all,

Just want to share my experience with Yoskarn Clinic in Bangkok.

I had 3 cosmetic surgeries in Yoskarn : Revision Nose job (Silicone removal+Tip+Alarplasy), Revision Chin implant and mini facelift.

I am very pleased with the care and services that Dr.Somyos Kunachak and his team provided . Very impressed with the facilities of the clinic , and excellent ,well trained staffs that took care of my needs in my recovering days in the hotel next door.

I was put under GA and was on the operating table at least 7-8 hours .
Stayed at their facility for the first night after the operation and I had a nurse that stayed with me all night to take care of me , and then I was moved to my hotel room next door which was also a fantastic idea , I never felt that i am staying outside of the clinic ,because the hotel is directly linked to the clinic with a door on the first floor.

Although it's still very early to judge the results of my surgeries ,with all the swelling still going on , I had a silicone implant removed ,Dr.Somyos removed a hump ,rebuilt my nose using the septum cartilage and did some tip work . . I can see very obvious changes to my nose after the bandages are removed , it already looking much more feminine, refine compared to the rigid looking L-shaped implant I had before.

I am surprise that the part of the nose that gives me the most trouble is Alarplasty !! I have problem with the wound closing and had to get it re-sutured 5 days after the first round of sutures removal.

I also didn't expect there's so much discomfort to talk, eat ,drink or making any top lip and cheek movements like I normally do without worrying that I will stretch the Alar wound further .

I experience minimal discomfort with the mini facelift .Very painful first week with the chin implant (but then quickly subsided and de-swell within 2 weeks) ,

Right now I talk and look like a wax doll (top lip not moving) because I don't want to overwork the muscles and the skin around my Alarplasty wound.  :mad

lip lift

Post by siangal07 » Mon, 22 Mar 2010 12:27 pm

Hi boii18,

I hope your lip lift revision went well.
I want to get a lip lift soon. I would like to ask if the hypertrophic scar is visible? and which doctor will you recommend for lip lift after your surgeries? I'm thinking of getting a 4-5mm lift.

Thank you!!

Why are you worry? Yoskarn has excellent facilities and very well equipped .
I decided on Yoskarn because I felt comfortable with the doctor based on my consultation with him. Dr.Somyos Kunachak is also an ENT specialist , who is very reputable in Thailand.

Dr Kunachak at Yoskarn Clinic Bangkok

Post by MelbourneGirl » Sat, 03 Apr 2010 1:24 pm

Hi

I'm booked to fly to Thailand in just under two weeks to meet with Dr. Kunachak of the Yoskarn Clinic and also with Dr. Poomee at Bumrungrad.

Dr. Kunachak has quote is quite a bit more expensive that what it would be at Bumrungrad and I thought this odd as I hear Bumrungrad is the most expensive however he does seem (from what little I've been able to read off the internet) more qualified to perform my surgery (septoplasty and rhinoplasty).

PrincessShina - I have been quoted 166,000 Baht for my nose work although. A package at Bumrungrad is just over the 100,000 mark but that's just rhinoplasty (but I've been told by Australian surgeons they would do it for one fee as there is not too much work needed for either).
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm really thankful ukorientalgirl posted feedback as it's put my mind more at ease about the clinic and Dr. Kunachak's work. I also was considering eyelash implants so are you able to update on how they are looking? Your feedback about the pain has put me off though.. poor think!! They needed to have give you more drugs to ease the pain!

kierasee - how does everything feel/look now? I'm really interested to hear what boii18 feedback also. I hope you are both very happy with the work!?

*pinkdragonfly* & Rachel - did you find out more RE: eyelash implants? Please pass on any information if able =) THANKS!

ats_syd & Mickeyyy - did you get your nose done?

IT'S A REALLY SCARY THING TO HAVE DONE SO I THINK PROVIDING FEEDBACK IS A VERY CONSIDERATE THING TO DO!

THANKS EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not sure how to PM so please PM me if possible or email me.

@ Ats_syd,
sorry for the late reply. I have no idea how to reply or PM.
Well...i am worried because i heard that the clinis wasnt really hygienic.
BTW..i got reply from DR Preecha about my nose surgery..alarplasty with silicone implant cost 3500usd. Yanhee about 1600 usd for rhinoplasty. I havent got reply from dr Somyak. I dont know bout the silicone implant though. I have slightly broken nose bridge...so i have no idea wether silicone is the best solution. Do you have any advice ATS_SYD ?

Sweetbabe - I've not heard back but I've done a lot of reading about Dr. Kunachak and all seems positive expect for one post which wasn't shocking but said he was rushed and the outcome was not a good as hoped.

I also have heard bad things about 'clinics' however in Australia the top surgeons can work from hospital but most work from their own clinic.... so what does that say? Dr. Kunachak also works at a hospital therefore I'm sure that he's well aware of hygene. It's not in his best interest to have a 'unhygenic' clinic so I would say... worry about the sugeon and his work. I would suggest you get advice from at least three surgeons.. send them your pictures.. explain your circumstances and your needs (I have actually used photoshop to morph the desired nose over my own to show them and have sent finding of my scans (I have deviated septum).

Ow.. there seems to be A LOT of reps particually pushing Bumrungrad so BE CAREFUL... if the comment doesn't come from a 'real patient' of one of the doctors you are enquiring about then what are their motives? Money I'm thinking!

Ukorientalgirl

Thank you so much for posting your experience for all to read! It's given me much peace with regards to having Dr. Kunachak perform rhinoplasty/septoplasty on me in two weeks time. I am meeting with at least one other doctor however I'm 90% sold on Dr. Kunachak as he's also and ENT surgeon.

Are you able to send me photos of your befores and afters? PLEASE!!!! [email protected]

I'm also considering lash transplants also but I'm concerned about them not curling and having to trim them. How do they look now?

Hope to hear from you and anyone else who has had work done by Dr. Kunachak especially nose and lashes!
THANKS ALL!

ukorientalgirl wrote:Hey everyone!

Got back from Yoskarn a couple of days ago. And I am happy to say, a very successful trip!!!!

I really dont know where to start, anywho. I had 3 procedures done at Yoskarn, eyelash implants, eyelid revision and rino (alar, tiplasty and refinement of bridge)

When I arrived in Thailand i was taken straight to the hospital for some tests, blood pressure, x-ray and blood tests, needless to say this really scared me and I started having doubts about the whole trip. My main worry was that I was not fit enough to go through with the surgery so thank god it was all ok!

Anyway I will try keep it short. I stayed at aphrodite inn which is linked directly with yoskarn, they have a door that leads straight into the clinic so no need to walk the streets all puffy and swollen!

My consultation with Dr Somyos Kunachak was about 25 minutes, he had his surgical gear on and seemed a bit rushed for time. he looked at my nose and proposed a silicone implant alar, tip refinement. I said no to the silicone implant which he accepted. My main concern with my nose is not my bridge, altho it is not very high it is not low to start off with. So he suggested alar, tiplasty bridge refinement and aquamid on the upper part of my nose bridge. I asked to see some pictures and he said to look at his website, admittedly this disheartened me a little. So then I asked his assistants if i could see pictures and they said they would show me the next day which they did after i had paid. I think they are only willing to show you before and afters when you are definately going to have surgery with them.

I looked at rhinos of western and asian patients and i have to say they were incredible. Alot of them were revisions too which is actually alot harder than primary. Some of them had really complexed noses and Dr Kunachak had managed to turn them not only into 'normal' looking noses but into really beautiful looking ones. There were lots of folders of before and after pictures, she couldnt show me most of them as they had not given permission. But the ones I saw made me much more confident and relaxed about the whole situation. I saw a couple of eyelid revisions, which again I was impressed with and a few eyelash transplant ones.

Had my eyes and nose done together, minimal pain although the injections were quite nasty. The packing that is used to stuff the nose is awful too, i couldnt breathe out of my nose for 3 days and had a really sore throat and any water i tried to drink kept going up the wrong pipe! The worse procedure was the eyelash transplant. Dr Somyos' team performed the transplant on me, with about 4 of them working on me. The injections were incredibly painful and I actually cried during the procedure!haha I feel stupid and bad for crying but it was so painful I couldnt keep it in.

I am 2 weeks post op and I must say I absolutely adore my new nose. Id like to share my pictures but not just posting them up here. My tip is so defined and 'cute' and the contour of my nose is just so delicate and feminine! Is there a photo album site where I can make an album and a special password for people? I am so happy with what Dr Somyos has done for me, the longer I was at Yoskarn the more friendly and warm Dr Somyos and thier team were to me. The post op care is amazing, and they would often bring me treats and desserts. I am also very happy with my eyes although they are still swollen and its too early for the results of eyelash transplant (can take 6 months).

Dr Somyos is a very busy man. After my eyelid revision they took me to my room for about 15 minutes as he had a couple of consultations to see to....now I realise when I had my consultation what he was doing. Then after that they did my nose. I think he finished at around 9pm. So to those who were also put off by his website, I dont blame him if he does not have any time to look at it, he is always working!!! I saw alot of patients, and a few with bandaged up noses....am still surprised there is still so little information about him on the net, as in my personal opinion he is a very highly skilled surgeon.

wow, theres so much I can say but am just so overwhelmed. Please anyone ask questions because I know how one persons opinion/experience matters so much as I was researching I was desperate for the slightest bit of information. Fire away!!

Hi,

I have heard of a taiwanese surgeon doing eyelash implants also thru one of the forummer's feedback.

But i heard that eyelash transplant surgery is really very painful even though the surgeon may hv given you injectition or LA to supposedly numb your pain. I was originally interested in the procedure as i hardly put on mascare and would love to have natural long dark curly eyelashes. But after hearing what that forummer has described about the procedure plus what ukorientalgal has also mentioned in her post, i decided not to go ahead with it.

If im not wrong, the surgeon wud take a piece of your hair scalp area and transplant the hair from there to your eyelash area. They would "plant" strand by strand n i heard that procedure is Very Painful. It would take a while for the eyelashes to settle down and thereafter, it would grow n lengthen.

Hope this helps.

Cheers.
