We're in the process of relocating and will not "make it" in time for the beginning of the school year. We hear from the school that since we won’t be there on day 1, our application will only be processed in July/August and availability of space will depend on space remaining after classes are "filled" for August 11th. Obviously this is causing us quite a bit of anxiety as we really don’t want to find ourselves without school for the kids.
On the other hand… rumors tell us that due to the economic slow-down much more families are leaving than arriving and that thus, although we are getting the official “party line”

Yes, the net numbers here are reducing somewhat. However, it only means that the waiting lists are shorter but there are still waiting lists that can only be jumped using baksheesh. Or, the more PC word "debenture system" that company's can contribute to the schools in order to jump the queues. Currently this is around 250-350K per placement. I haven't heard any anecdotal evidence that waiting lists are exhausted as of yet.

Hi there
Am in similar/worse position. Our move is planned for December this year and our children are down for January entry. Currently on 2 waitlists of very popular schools and unlikely to get in for Jan so we need a definite place for January.
Our 3rd school of choice currently has a few spaces but they can't hold for us, if they fill by August sept, then we're down to nothing again!!!
If I'd known it was going to be so difficult, I'd have agreed to move sooner to make it for the August intake!!!!!!!!!
As for waitlist and intakes - the waitlists are shorter than normal and yes people are still leaving and coming it seems. However, there were definite places at the school when I went for look see, and then one week later, it had filled up already!!1
Which country are you moving from and which grade are the children going into? Maybe PM me... maybe we can moan together.
Good Luck!
