Probation Officer relocating from london to singapore

Post by brogang » Sat, 04 Jul 2009 6:51 pm

I am potentially moving to singapore in september with my partner who is a probation officer.

Can anyone give me any information on the potential for her to find work in singapore with her skills, how she might go about it and any possible points of contact for more info.

Thanks

Do they have probation officers here in Singapore??- SMS

We have low crime but correctly harsh punishment.

Best check out the straits times online. It will give you a flavour of how Singapore deals with criminals.

Yep, sure do. Mostly for young offenders before they commit the 2nd crime and end up serving hard time.

So unlike the UK where it is all lip service . The statics is that most criminals released from HM Prison services in the uk, would of reoffended by the time they reached their home towns.

My younger sister retired last year. She was a parole officer for the State of Florida at Tampa. Her husband still is. Don't have any statistics on how much actual good they do either in the US but I don't reckon it's any better or worse than the UK. :-|
