Hi karen, i'm planning my chin implant next week and im really really scared...doing it in Sg..

Ive done alot of research but seems like chin augmentation is not as popular as nose surgery so ive gotten very little feedback fr others..

So far my frd who did intra-oral says its very painful..e dr convinced me the pain is mild but seems like more ppl says its painful? Hv u gotten much research done??

Hi Maryjanepkt27,
Glad that someone is finally reading my message :D
I've only started doing research for the past 3months, can't really get much information on chin augmentation on the web that's y u r seeing me posting here hehe....
Which doc are you going to? Dr WW? silicone implant?
my mum always say "women want beauty don't want their life" in mandarin so we just have to bear with the pain 8-)
Anyway I should be going to Dr Chuang maybe in another 1 to 2 months time.
Good luck to your operation next week and keep us posted on your result!! Go for it!!

Hi Karen,
wats 陈淑贤医师  ? i removed cast (surgical tape) yst but had to replace agn cse yst was only 4th day post op. Can only remove surgical tape totally on tue :) ..yst i was quite hapi wit the quik peek :)..
i dun feel like my chin is tht heavy yet cse the tape seems to hold the wgt but my mouth feel stretched so i kip drooling  ..e reason my mouth feels stretch is cse the tape is tite. however, wen i did chin fillers b4, it rily felt heavy but gradually went away. Maybe wen i remove the tape, it wl feel heavy, but Dr AT says after a while, u wun even realise.

Btw, my family doesnt noe except hubby. They'll kill me :p..Actually unlike nose, chin implants i feel r very subtle..Ur face looks d same but beta but ppl wun b able to figure out wat u did.

I PM-d u wat AT charged..his prx rily reasonable & he breaks it dwn for u in his receipt.

Btw, y do wana do chin implant? For me, my chin isnt tht receeding but i hv a small chin & it rily makes me look meek & weak :( so hope i look beta & more comfident now.

Hi karen,

Today is the 1st day of werk..i took total 8 days leave..even tho i still hv some stitches in my mouth, i feel perfectly fine..today i notice some of my stitches tugging n i tink some may hv dissolved. weird feelin cse can feel some of my stitches in tact & other parts of my mouth hanging loose :p..

im slowly gettin bac my speech n top & btm lips are oredy meetg..i sort of like the new shape of my mouth..sort of sexy hahhhaah!..ur mouth shape totally chgs..b4, my mouth looked akward wen i closed em, now my lower lips sort of portrudes upwards in a nice way..u'll get it too cse i saw pics of other patients where their mouths bcame nice lookin..

this is like e best surgery ever! altho i wish i went 1 size bigger :p.. i luv tis doctor's werk! yippie!!!!!

Chin implant

Post by polkadot » Tue, 11 Aug 2009 12:16 pm

Hi Maryjanepkt27

Hi everyone, I am a newbie here!

I am actually researching into doing a chin implant now and has consulted only one dr in Singapore. It will be great if you could share your experiences with me as i worry about how the implant will turn out and the recovery, pain, etc involved. I am also researching on other good doctors that does chin implant well and could not find much good info untill i see your post. :)

Could you PM me or something as i do not seem to be able to PM you.

Thanks, and hope u are doing well and liking your new look more and more! :)

I'm actually considering getting chin implants as well even though my bf HATES the idea of me having foreign objects in my face :P

My concerns are more long term - what happens to chin implants as we age? Does it remain in place? Or does it run the risk of shifting/sagging? I've looked around online but couldn't find much information about the long-term effects, so if anyone has any information on this would appreciate if you could share :)

Hi..
My husband hates e idea too..but if e woman wans & she gets, she makes e man happy hahaha :)... b4 that, he had to make me guilty by sendin me articles on poor indonesian children who were born wit cleftlips but din hv enuf money for surgery :( ..

Rgdg risks, my doc said 1 of e longterm risk is bone erosion..this doesnt seem to b harmful but maybe u may wana discuss wit ur doc further..other risks he mentioned is shifting, therefore, he used an implant which is less smooth (forgot e name) abit matt surface so that it wl stay in tact, & i had my chin taped dwn for 7-8 days so tht the implant wudnt shift..the risk which scared me d most was e risk of accidently cuttin d lower lip nerves which causes numbness. So its impt to get gd certified docs cse they noe d mouth anatomy well..abt drooping chin etc, i guess even without surgery, as we age, everytg sags & ur jaw bcomes smaller, other than tht, e implant is perm.. tink e best is to discuss wit ur doc on the risks..sumtimes we've read certain info oredy, but its gd to get e doc's opinion cse they noe best.. :) gd luck & do update us!

Maryjane

Thx for the info. It kind of gave me more courage & assurance to go for it hehe. I too have a small chin. Guess that the dr u go to is v v important, it can determine if the op is pain-free or painful.

One of my concerns is definitely eating after the op. Think its a torture to be on liquid and bland food for a couple of days post-op. Hope u can now eat ur cheeseburger in 5 minutes instead of an hour now... :)

I actually still have some concerns but is unable to reply you. Cld u PM me ur email contact instead? Thx a great deal!
