Western maths tutor

Post by surreymum » Wed, 24 Jun 2009 8:42 pm

We have been advised by our 10 year old daughter's school that her maths could do with a little help.
I have discussed this with her and she is ok with having a tutor, but she didn't want them to be Singaporean or Chinese.
Does anyone know of, or has used a maths tutor that would fit the bill, (UK school system)??

I'm unsure if you mean my daughter should learn piano instead of maths?

If, as I suspect, you are again airing your views on expats wanting services provided by other expats, then unless you are prepared to spunk up the cash on maths lessons for my daughter, SHE can choose who she feels more comfortable with. And if you don't have a phone number of such a tutor, why exactly are you contributing to this thread?

Because it is just about impossible to find a western tutor here for anything unless they happen to be a PR. If their are here on an EP they are not allowed to work for any other company as it's in violation of the Employment Pass. That's why.

Maths tutor available

Hi, I don't know if you have found a maths tutor, or still need one, for your daughter but I would be happy to help with some tutoring.

I have just finished my engineering degree at Oxford University and I am now spending the summer here in Singapore on a work placement but I have my evenings free. My engineering degree involved a lot of maths so school maths is easy (and enjoyable) for me to explain.

I'm English so have gone through the UK school system. I'm 22 and will be in Singapore until 12th September.

If you think I can be of help, send me an email to andysingapore@gmail.com
I've got a singapore mobile which I can give you by email

All the best

Andrew

Hi there,

If you haven't already sorted out a maths tutor I might be able to help. Before moving here I owned a maths and physics tutoring school in NZ. I've had eight years of tutoring experience (on and off) so have worked with a huge variety of students (all ages and abilities).

The only catch is that I dont have easy transport. I work near Tanjong Pagar and live out East so if you're based either of those locations or can come to me then let me know.

You can reach me on kate.merry@gmail.com.

:-)
