opening for mainframe

Post by p_mainframe » Mon, 22 Jun 2009 10:06 am

I would like to know if there is a demand for mainframe based jobs in singapore. I do not see many openings. I have over 4 years of experience in mainframes. Im currently on LTSVP, but have applied for PR. I have not gotten any response for the numerous jobs I applied for. Is the lack of response because of the market or visa status or in general there are not many jobs in mainframe in singapore.

How did you apply for PR? Are you married to a Singapore? You need either a Singaporean spouse or an employer to sponsor you for PR. Unless you are still outside Singapore and applying via the Landed PR scheme.

Market's bad, Visa's wrong and Mainframes are not that common.

PDP-11 was a mini... and big boxes are going strong... for a couple of reasons... legacy systems... and when you get through stacking hundreds of servers in racks, it costs about the same to run a piece of big iron, properly virtualized to look like anything you want.

Actaully, a mainframe can be much more green... so many servers not being fully utilized.
