French-English Exchange at The French Stall

Post by AGIS » Sat, 20 Jun 2009 9:48 am

The next French-English Exchange will be held at The French Stall on Thursday the 25th. I suggest 7-9 PM and meet directly at the restaurant. The details including how to get there can be found at: http://www.thefrenchstall.com.sg/

If you are interested in joining, send me an e-mail ([email protected]) so I can get a rough count of people.

Best regards,

Patrick

what is French-English Exchange

Post by AGIS » Mon, 22 Jun 2009 8:07 am

I started the French-English Exchange a few months back after noticing a lot of people on this list saying they wanted to practice their French and a few francophones their English. Not a language class by any means, but the idea is just a friendly environment open to all to meet people and speak a bit of French (or English). To date we have been meeting at the StarBucks in Raffles Shopping Mall but decided at the last gathering to meet at The French Stall instead. If you are interested in joining in this week, just send along an e-mail and we'll see you there.

Your mileage may vary, but I found the food there quite mediocre. Then again, when you're paying for $15 for a three-course French meal, you shouldn't expect too much...

No idea how many people will actually show. Have had 5-6 positive replies so far but usually a few last minute cancellations. Hope you can make it.

Not a good sign then. Just to farrer for an average food? Alright, I can get better ones back home. Then again, its the gathering that matters. Enjoy!

If I come we are going to be more french than local people may be

Here in Asia it's a habit to cancel at the last minute

If we do that in our country we are friendless

Hope you will be enjoying your evening

Hi Patrick,

I am a local that knows some basic french (went for a few classes at Alliance Francaise). Haven't been able to practise my french as there isn't anyone that I can practise with. Interested in your french-english exchanges. Do keep me posted. My email is [email protected]

Cheers,
Joanne

Hi all,
Are these gatherings still taking place? A few of us who are learning French @ Alliance Francaise would dearly love some practice!!
