Green babies and mothers

Post by wanakai » Thu, 11 Jun 2009 3:09 am

Hi
I am interested in Natural Parenting and just started to learn about Steiner Waldorf education.
And wondering if anyone out here is intersted in raising a natural child and share your informations.
I am not 100% green yet but would like to meet some like minded people.

What do you mean by "natural"? The Waldorf method is very similar (in early years) to the Montessori. Do you mean being "green" by using natural materials for toys and learning aids? (as the Montessori does?)
There are so many styles and methods to schooling. Personally "unschooling" works for us, but I think all the labels get confusing as to what is the philosophy of each type.
Like the Waldorf method we limit TV (no TV just 1 DVD per evening) and place a lot of emphasis on visual and creative learning. However we also add more responsibility for our child to guide her own learning as this suits her individual learning style.
I believe it's not about being dogmatic about sticking to one approach and all the principals that that approach extols. Rather find out your baby or childs' individual learning style (and this can change across the years) and then pick and mix a variety of styles to maximise their enthusiasm for learning.

Is there a way to get 'green' babies back to normal? I mean I know about 'blue' babies, I was one. and I know about 'yellow' babies (jaundice). But 'green' one are new to me? They got chlorophyll in their blood? How?

Im not sure, could be that I'm vegan and ate an extraordinary amount of veg during pregnancy, or it could be tree house we live in and strapping the baby to the branches so she isn't affected by anything non organic. :D
